Job summary

Piping Rock Health Products in Florida is seeking a Project Engineer responsible for managing capital projects and providing engineering support to manufacturing, packaging and gummy processes. This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Plant Engineering.

Key tasks include driving project lifecycle from concept to closure, reviewing plans for cost and schedule, creating CAD drawings, supporting maintenance, ensuring FDA/GMP/SOP compliance, and fostering continuous improvement to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years related experience.
  • Experience with full life cycle management of capital projects covering manufacturing facility building and equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial HVAC, boilers, compressors, and chillers.
  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Maintenance Software (Mapcon a plus), and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to problem-solve and multi-task.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage capital projects from conception through closure, including initiation, scope, planning, deliverables, and post-project review.
  • Review project plans to ensure timelines, accuracy, and budget adherence.
  • Interpret project developments and guide necessary changes.
  • Develop operational plans for projects (Renovation, Construction, Maintenance, or Machine install).
  • Create CAD drawings for project, maintenance, and facility use.
  • Assist with maintenance of Plant equipment (HVAC, boilers, compressors, etc.).
  • Collaborate with site leadership to ensure efficient facility operations.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to plant operations.
  • Train plant personnel on safety and QC procedures and regulatory compliance.

The Project Engineer is responsible for management of capital projects and providing Engineering and equipment support to the manufacturing, packaging and gummy processes. This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Plant Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage capital projects from initial conception through closure, including project initiation, defining project goals and scope, planning of project workflow, finalizing deliverables, and monitoring of project outcomes after project completion.
  • Review Project plans to ensure timelines are met and drawings are accurate and ensure cost estimates are within budget.
  • Interpret developments with the project plan by providing guidance for necessary changes.
  • Develop Operational plans for Projects, such as Renovation, Construction, Maintenance or Machine installation.
  • Create CAD drawings for project, maintenance, and general facility use.
  • Assist with maintenance and monitoring of Plant equipment to ensure it is running properly and efficiently (HVAC Systems, boilers, air compressors, etc.).
  • Work directly with site leadership and department supervisors to ensure facility is running efficiently.
  • Identify and recommend processes that can improve current plant processes.
  • Train and assist plant personnel in carrying out safety and QC Procedures and compliance.
  • Ensure facility is compliant with all relevant FDA, GMP and SOP regulations.
  • Make sure Facility meets all EHS requirements.
  • Continuous improvement work to minimize machine down time and contributing to ideas to improve uptime.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish)..
  • Ability to work in a physically challenging environment, including bending, twisting, and standing for long periods of time
