Job summary

A Michigan-based engineering company is seeking a Project Engineer responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing engineering projects. The ideal candidate has advanced knowledge of CAD systems, an associates degree in Mechanical Engineering, and experience in design and build of assembly and test machine systems. This role includes considerable customer interaction and travel to client facilities.

Overview

Project Engineer is responsible for planning, scheduling, leading, managing, and following all phases of design, detail, check, release, and follow up on projects assigned. He/She will research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of design or applications. This person will also perform engineering duties for planning and designing functioning equipment. He/She will oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, lead, manage, and follow all phases of design, detail, check, release, and follow up on projects assigned.
• Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of design or applications.
• This person will also perform engineering duties for planning and designing functioning equipment.
• Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge with recent software such as Computer Added Design (CAD) systems.

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows XP or higher
• Project/customer will vary from Nissan, GM, Cummins, Ford, or Rivian
• Travel to customer facilities is required. This role requires person to be on the customer floor a lot.
• Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent in education and/or experience required
• Experience in design and build of Assembly and or Test machines systems preferred
• Experience with mechanical mechanisms, machinery, transmissions, engine assembly and test systems preferred
