Job summary

Beal Derkenne Construction (BDC) is a full service commercial General Contracting firm seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Des Moines, IA. The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager and Superintendent on assigned projects and help prepare bid invites, manage RFIs and submittals, and assist with permit processes.

The role includes assisting with project scheduling and budgeting, ordering materials, and helping with project close-out documentation and warranties.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
• Ability to legally work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bid invites and packages during the project bid process.
• Prepare, review and distribute RFI’s and maintain RFI Log.
• Prepare, review and distribute submittals and maintain Submittal Log; assist in permit process.
• Assist in preparation of weekly and monthly project status reports; attend project meetings and record minutes.
• Assist PM in budget management; order materials and ensure timely arrival.
• Assist in project close-out and obtain warranties; maintain job files and as-builts.
• Assist in owner and subcontract administration; prepare close-out documentation.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering or Construction Management

In addition, the company offers conceptual and schematic management, cost estimating, design and schedule management as part of pre-construction services. Beal Derkenne Construction is currently searching for a Project Engineer to join our team.

The Project Engineer will support and assist the Project Manager and Superintendent on assigned projects and be assigned the following responsibilities:

• Prepare bid invites and packages during project bid process
• Prepare, review and distribute RFI’s and maintain RFI Log
• Prepare, review and distribute submittals and maintain submittal Log Assist in project permit process
• Assist in preparation of weekly and monthly project status reports Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes
• Assist Project Manager in proactively managing project budget Ordering project materials and ensure timely arrival
• Assist in project close-out and obtain all warranties required Schedule management Maintain job files and as-builts
• Assist in owner contract and subcontract administration Prepare project close out documentation

Qualifications:

• Candidates must have a 4-year degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
• Ability to legally work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship either now or in the future.
