Job summary

Coulter Services in the UK is seeking a Project Engineer to support naval vessel projects. Based in South Shields, the role focuses on developing and implementing engineering solutions, coordinating with internal teams, OEMs, contractors, and MOD stakeholders.

The successful candidate will lead technical planning, oversee upgrades and modifications, maintain documentation, contribute to cost estimation, and ensure safety and quality standards across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or degree in mechanical, marine, or electrical engineering.
• Experience in project engineering within defence or marine sectors.
• Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on understanding of engineering systems.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with project lifecycles, OEM coordination, and maintenance planning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

The engineer will develop, review, and implement engineering solutions, oversee upgrades and modifications, and ensure compliance with defence standards. Responsibilities include preparing work packages, monitoring progress, resolving technical issues, maintaining documentation, and supporting cost estimation. The role requires leading technical activities during planning and execution, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications & Skills

• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering (or similar).
• Experience in project engineering within defence or marine sectors.
• Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on understanding of engineering systems.
