Job summary

Modern Ice Equipment & Supply in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Project Engineer to own ice production, conveying, and packaging systems from design through startup. You will lead cross-functional teams, develop layouts, evaluate customer needs, and coordinate installations across the US and internationally.

The role requires a Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing engineering background with 3+ years in project engineering or management, strong problem-solving, and good communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (strongly preferred).
• Three or more years of relevant experience in project engineering or project management.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Refrigeration experience is a plus but not required.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to rent vehicles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Own projects from initial sketch to startup and delivery.

Are you ready to own projects from the first sketch to the final startup?

Modern Ice Equipment & Supply is looking for a Project Engineer who wants real responsibility and visible results. You'll design and manage complete ice production, conveying, and packaging systems for customers across the United States and internationally. From equipment replacements and plant expansions to brand-new greenfield sites, every project is different and every one ends with something running.

What You’ll Do

• Assess customer needs and technical drawings to determine project requirements and feasibility.
• Create detailed project layouts and preliminary design proposals with innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with various departments to identify opportunities and solutions based on customer feedback.
• Prepare comprehensive proposal documentation, showcasing technical specifications and design intricacies.
• Interact directly with customers to address inquiries and resolve design-related challenges.
• Manage project logistics, including ordering equipment, scheduling activities, and overseeing installation, startup, and training.
• Select and oversee contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
• Engage with vendors to discuss and evaluate parts supplied for company use.
• Participate in engineering and design reviews to enhance project outcomes.

What You Bring

• Experience managing capital projects or equipment installations in food-grade or cold-chain environments.

The Day-to-Day Reality

• Travel approximately 25%, including domestic and occasional international sites. Some trips may be multi-week during installation and startup phases.
• Conduct site visits and technical assessments.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to walk industrial plant floors, climb ladders or platforms, and work in refrigerated or noisy environments during site visits.
