Job description

As a Project Engineer, the successful candidate will manage key components of engineering and construction projects for various projects in the Super Project Management Office (Super PMO). The incumbent will provide management and coordination of all necessary project resources and documentation throughout the entire project lifecycle, from preconstruction through construction and closeout. The incumbent will bring a wealth of experience in project monitoring and quality assurance with an emphasis on building stakeholder relationships among a diverse team.

  • Ensure alignment with project goals, stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements
  • Manage project scope, budget and schedule to ensure successful and timely project delivery
  • Prepare notification letters and agendas to achieve specific objectives and clearly outlined deliverables
  • Prepare meeting minutes
  • Draft and prepare reports, letters and other associated project correspondence with a high level of accuracy and careful attention to detail
  • Review and interpret all contractual documentation to facilitate the effective management and delivery of assigned projects
  • Review and process pay applications in accordance with contract and progress achieved
  • Support change order development by vetting for validity, cost and schedule impact
  • Identify and manage potential design risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the successful and timely delivery of assigned projects through the pre-design and design phases.
  • Analyze problems and drive solutions and keep projects moving forward.
  • Facilitate clear, proactive communication with all project stakeholders (user agencies, contractors, design firms, etc.) to provide regular updates on project milestones
  • Conduct a high-level review of the design documents (drawings&specifications) to assess compliance with the Owner's Standards, Design Requirements, and the approved programmed criteria.
  • Utilize PMIS system to maintain comprehensive project file documentation including contracts, pay applications, project schedules, design documents, RFIs, progress reports and other project submittals
  • Inspects work and design in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adheres to contract baseline (cost, schedule, and scope).
  • Comply with the quality control and quality assurance plan for design deliverables to ensure they meet industry standards and align with project and program requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Work is generally performed in an office setting and requires some physical effort, including frequent site visits and inspections that require climbing, lifting, pushing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, prolonged and intermittent standing.
  • Strong, effective proactive communication and interpersonal skills (written, phone, and in person).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all assignments.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications to interpret for construction control purposes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted during work.
  • Skills in organization, documentation, time management, reasoning, and critical thinking.
  • Skills in computer operation and its software and applications, such as the Microsoft Core Office Suite, Access, and Project programs.
  • Ability to multitask, work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and problem-solve while managing competing, shifting priorities.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and research problems of a complex nature and make recommendations.
  • Adaptability to manage unexpected challenges such as delays, utility conflicts, and emergencies
  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.

  1. Education:
    • Bachelor'sDegreeinEngineering, Construction Management,Architecture, or relatedfield.
  1. Experience:
    • At least five years of experience in project management, programming, design reviews, and schedule management on large-scale projects.
    • Demonstrated experience working on municipal, state-level, or federal capital projects.
    • Proven experience in a support role within the design or project management field, and a strong portfolio showcasing successful design projects.
    • Experience in large-scale, complex projects and programs, especially projects involving federal funding, is a plus.
