We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our growing project team. This full-time position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career construction professionals who are eager to build a long-term career in heavy civil construction.
As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with Project Managers,
Superintendents, and field personnel to support project planning, execution, and administration.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and executing heavy civil construction projects from start to finish.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure accurate execution of work.
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
- Perform material and quantity takeoffs and assist in cost tracking, forecasting, and budget management.
- Work closely with field teams to monitor daily progress and ensure production goals, safety standards, and quality expectations are met.
- Help develop and maintain project schedules, work plans, and logistics layouts.
- Support surveying activities and utilize GPS technology and basic surveying tools as needed.
- Provide oversight and coordination for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Participate in project meetings, both on-site and in-office.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in construction, preferably in heavy civil or related disciplines.
- Ability to travel and work on projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic / DMV region.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with construction software (e.g., Procore) is a plus.
- Willingness to learn all aspects of heavy civil contracting, both in the field and office.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must pass a drug and background check prior to employment.
