Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Project Engineer to support site supervision and project management on heavy civil infrastructure projects in Massachusetts. You will interpret drawings, manage submittals, track quantities and costs, coordinate with subcontractors, and assist with schedules using Primavera P6.

• Minimum three years of construction engineering and layout experience.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, establish line and grade, and prepare as-built drawings.
• Working knowledge of surveying equipment and construction methods.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings, specifications and engineering documents.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and as-built plans.
• Track quantities, labour production, materials and project costs.
• Support procurement, subcontractor coordination and vendor pricing.
• Assist with project schedules, lookaheads and progress tracking using Primavera P6.
• Coordinate site inspections and monitor quality control and safety compliance.
• Verify field layouts, grades, reinforcing steel and construction installations.
• Identify design conflicts and assist with practical solutions.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, quantity records and project documentation.

Project Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction

Salary: $90,000–$130,000, depending on experience.

About the Role

An established heavy civil contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support site supervision and project management across infrastructure projects involving excavation, grading, drainage, utilities, bridges, structural steel and concrete.

Working closely with the Superintendent and Project Team, you will support field operations, project documentation, scheduling, quality control, subcontractor coordination and overall project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings, specifications and engineering documents.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and as-built plans.
• Track quantities, labour production, materials and project costs.
• Support procurement, subcontractor coordination and vendor pricing.
• Assist with project schedules, lookaheads and progress tracking using Primavera P6.
• Coordinate site inspections and monitor quality control and safety compliance.
• Verify field layouts, grades, reinforcing steel and construction installations.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe and Bluebeam.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Primavera P6 or Bid2Win is advantageous.
• Heavy civil and/or bridge construction experience preferred.
