Job summary

BC Construction Group, an employee-owned ESOP company, is seeking a Project Engineer in Brighton, Michigan. You will support commercial, industrial, and large-scale projects, traveling every other week to active job sites and coordinating with the project team to keep documentation current and organized.

Ideal candidates have a Construction Management or related degree and experience reading drawings, plus strong communication and multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field.
• Commercial or industrial construction experience preferred.
• Warehouse, distribution, manufacturing or mission-critical project experience is a plus.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Manager and field team to keep projects organized and moving.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and document control.
• Manage drawings and specifications; track procurement and materials.
• Coordinate with designers, subcontractors, and field teams; prepare meeting records.
• Maintain project schedule and milestone tracking; assist with cost impacts of changes.
• Communicate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors; ensure quality and turnover docs.
• Travel to active project sites; support field priorities and team coordination.

BC Construction Group is looking for a motivated Project Engineer to support commercial, industrial, warehouse, distribution, and mission critical construction projects.

This role is based out of our Brighton, Michigan office with regular travel to active project sites. The standard expectation is jobsite travel every other week, typically 1-3 days, although travel may increase or decrease based on project needs.

The right Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors, design team, clients, and BCCG leadership to keep project information organized, current, and moving.

What You'll Do

Working alongside the Project Manager and field team, you'll help keep projects organized, documented, and moving forward by supporting:

• RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and document control
• Drawing and specification management
• Procurement and material tracking
• Coordination with designers, subcontractors, and field teams
• Meeting preparation, minutes, action items, and follow-up
• Project schedule and milestone tracking
• Change order documentation and cost-impact support
• Field coordination and jobsite follow-up
• Owner, architect, engineer, and subcontractor communication
• Quality and project documentation
• Punch lists, warranties, closeout, and turnover documentation
• Regular travel to active project sites based on project needs

The Project Engineer plays an important role in making sure information gets to the right people, commitments are followed through, and potential issues are identified early.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Commercial or industrial construction experience preferred
• Warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, mission critical, or large commercial project experience is a plus
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments
• Comfortable working in both an office and active construction environment
• Microsoft Office experience; ProjectSight, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software experience is a plus
• A team-first mindset with a willingness to learn and grow

Work Arrangement

This position is based out of the BCCG Brighton, Michigan office.

Additional travel may be required when project conditions call for it.

Expected base salary range: $70,000-$90,000, depending on experience and fit.
