Job summary

D.H. Griffin Companies is seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to assist the Senior Project Manager and leadership in Atlanta airport demolition projects. You will help oversee daily field supervision and office administration while supporting project delivery.

The role emphasizes coordinating schedules, ensuring safety and quality, and driving project profitability. Candidates should have 2–4 years in demolition or construction and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Building Science.
  • 2-4 years experience in construction / demolition environments preferred.
  • Has proven set of skills and breadth of knowledge valuable to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of field supervision, and office/administration.
  • Understand current status of all projects and oversee progress.
  • Ensure all projects meet schedule, quality standards, and SOPs.
  • Drive profitability, cash flow and business goals.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
  • Provide timely, accurate reports on project condition.
  • Collaborate to develop plans for processes, systems and personnel.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance team; recruit and mentor staff.
  • Promote a safe, accountable project environment.
  • Communicate status, milestones and changes with leadership and clients.

Job description

The Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Senior Project Manager, Division Manager and senior leadership in the successful operation and growth of the division and company in all operational aspects of the Atlanta airport demolition projects.

All employees must be able to pass a background test and drug screening.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of field supervision, and office/administration.
  • Understand current status of all projects at any point in time and oversee
  • Ensure that all projects meet schedule, company quality standards, and standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external. Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the project.
  • Collaborate with all members of the team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate objectives of the project.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance team; attract, recruit, and retain required members of the team; provide mentoring and management with a career development focus.
  • Promote a success-oriented, accountable environment within the project.
  • Foster a project working environment that places the highest value on safety, ensuring policy is documented, communicated, and implemented.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership and clients, changes in the current project status, schedule, and other project milestones.

  • Strong ability to use technology including scheduling, takeoff, and estimating software.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-4 years experience in construction / demolition environments (preferred)
  • Education - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Building Science.
  • Has proven set of skills and a breadth of knowledge that are of value to the business.
  • Takes a big picture perspective regarding the Company’s priorities and goals.
  • Previous front line business operations or leadership experience.
