Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a Project Engineer to lead engineering activities for laboratory, pharmaceutical plant and clean room projects. You will coordinate with architects, MEP teams and contractors to ensure design alignment with regulatory requirements (OSHPD/HCAI) and client expectations.

The role involves overseeing construction, commissioning and handover, maintaining schedules and budgets, and ensuring safety on site. Experience with clean rooms and GMP/GLP familiarity a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related field
• 2+ years as a Project Engineer on life sciences, lab or pharma plant projects
• Experience with clean rooms, controlled environments and lab systems
• Hands-on knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI requirements
• Strong understanding of construction documents, MEP systems and equipment installation
• Proven ability to manage contractors and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent technical communication and documentation experience
• OSHPD familiarity certifications a plus

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering activities for lab, pharma plant and clean room projects from design through construction and commissioning.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP teams and contractors to ensure design intent and regulatory compliance (OSHPD/HCAI).
• Oversee construction and installation of lab and clean-room systems, including HVAC, process utilities and containment systems.
• Perform site inspections, develop punch lists, track corrective actions and verify contractor work meets plans and quality standards.
• Lead or support commissioning, start-up and qualification activities; ensure handover documentation is complete and accurate.
• Maintain project schedules, cost tracking and progress reporting; identify risks and mitigation plans.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance, enforce OSHA 30 on site and promote safety culture.
• Prepare technical submittals, RFIs, change orders and as-built docs; coordinate with QA/validation teams as needed.
• Collaborate with procurement to evaluate vendors and coordinate delivery and installation logistics.
• Provide technical support during design reviews and client meetings; troubleshoot field issues.

Project Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Engineer with strong experience in OSHPD/HCAI, life sciences facilities, laboratories, pharmaceutical plants and clean rooms. The Project Engineer will plan, coordinate and oversee engineering activities from design through construction, commissioning and turnover, ensuring projects meet regulatory, safety and quality standards. This role requires hands-on coordination with design teams, contractors and stakeholders to deliver compliant, high-quality facilities on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage engineering activities for laboratory, pharmaceutical plant and clean room projects from design through construction and commissioning.
• Coordinate with architects, process engineers, MEP teams and contractors to ensure design intent and regulatory compliance (HCAI, OSHPD).
• Oversee construction and installation of specialized lab and clean-room systems, including HVAC, process utilities, controlled environments and containment systems.
• Perform site inspections, develop punch lists, track corrective actions and verify contractor work meets plans, specifications and quality standards.
• Lead or support commissioning, start-up and qualification activities for equipment and systems; ensure documentation for handover is complete and accurate.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related) or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer on life sciences, laboratory or pharmaceutical plant projects.
• Demonstrated experience with clean room design, controlled environments and laboratory systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of HCAI and OSHPD requirements and processes for healthcare and regulated facilities.
• Strong understanding of construction documents, MEP systems, process utilities and equipment installation.
• Proven ability to manage contractors, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and drive projects to completion on schedule and within budget.
• Excellent technical communication skills, experience preparing RFIs, submittals, punch lists and as-built documentation.
• Proficiency with project documentation and scheduling tools; ability to learn project management platforms quickly.
• Nice to have: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) experience.
• Nice to have: Experience with Procore or similar construction management software.
• Nice to have: OSHPD 1, OSHPD 2 and OSHPD 3 familiarity or certifications.
