Job description

This is a Full Time position in the field of Live Broadcast / Sports / TV News / Technical Operations, located in Secaucus, NJ.

This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed 10 months. Position Summary: This position requires a well‑rounded understanding of video broadcasting and streaming media standards, broadcast media systems—particularly IP‑based equipment supporting uncompressed and compressed video formats—and multicast networking. This includes video routers, video processing hardware, tally systems, timing, and synchronization. This individual will be part of the Systems Engineering & Support team, supporting broadcast media infrastructure at the NBA in Secaucus, NJ, as well as at NBA arenas. Responsibilities include supporting NBA domestic and international distribution during live games and addressing time‑critical, live production issues as they arise.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Engineer end‑to‑end multimedia infrastructure support and delivery of live streaming content.
  • Make iterative improvements to ensure reliable and flexible streaming delivery workflows.
  • Monitor technical continuity using QC and monitoring tools (e.g., multiviewers, IP probes, video analyzers, etc.).
  • Provide troubleshooting support to maintain operational standards and uptime.
  • Check in all inbound and outbound feeds for technical continuity.
  • Support and troubleshoot broadcast systems and IP/network‑connected equipment, including 3G/HD production hybrid routers, multiviewers, IP codecs, and broadcast network Layer 2/3 switches.
  • Create detailed technical reports.
  • Ability to work all shifts associated with a 24x7x365 production environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Experience

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of broadcast television standards, workflows, and technologies for routing, switching, encoding, audio processing, and distribution.
  • Experience with hardware encoding and IP gateways.
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as RTSP, RTMP, SRT, and transport over UDP/TCP and RTP.
  • Ability to manage system routing, quality control issues, and variations in production requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and think creatively.
  • Hands‑on experience with 3G/HD broadcast systems.

Experience Needed: 2–5 years of broadcast operations or engineering experience.

Educational Background Required: College degree in Communications, Engineering, or a related field preferred. In lieu of a college degree, significant relevant field experience will be considered.
