Job summary

Jefferson Lab, officially known as Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, seeks a Project Director for the High Performance Data Facility (HPDF) to guide a cross-functional team through concept to completion. You will coordinate with DOE, the Integrated Project Team, and external partners, ensuring alignment with baselines and DOE standards.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience leading highly complex technical objectives.
• Exemplary communication skills across diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
• 5+ years managing technical projects with costs of $10M+.
• 5+ years of experience managing research computing or DOE-lab related projects.
• 5+ years of experience managing federally funded research projects and their financials.
• Direct experience with DOE O413.3b project management preferred.
• Experience in DOE ASCR Program Office preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset.
• Ability to negotiate high-value contracts with technology vendors.
• Ability to collaborate with U.S. Government program managers.
• High emotional intelligence and self-management.
• Ability to communicate complex funding/financial information.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with DOE, Integrated Project Team, Jefferson Lab leadership and stakeholders.
• Develop project plans detailing time, funding, and resources for governance.
• Manage DOE-approved baselines and 413.3b/413.3C standards.
• Oversee outcomes of DOE independent reviews and assessments.
• Lead collaboration with technical teams, vendors, and construction managers.
• Coordinate HPDF integration with the Jefferson Lab Data Center (JLDC).
• Support DOE mission and goals within the Lab’s framework.
• Hire and manage top talent to ensure project success.
