As Project Director - Diablo Canyon Power Plant Feedwater Heater (FWH) Program you will have overall accountability to deliver and install the 24 replacement feedwater heaters for Diablo Canyon 1 and 2. These feedwater heaters are being designed and manufactured by a sub-vendor to Westinghouse, with Westinghouse then responsible for all site engineering, construction and installation activities. You will lead the program team from an executive level. This will require strong communication and management skills to lead the internal team headed by the Diablo Canyon FWH Program Manager. A key responsibility will be the establishment and continued development of relationships with the Pacific Gas and Electric executive management team.).
You will report to the Director, Major Projects. This is a remote role that can be performed from anywhere in the United States.
Manage program according to customer needs and project SOW, for the Diablo Canyon FWHs, with emphasis on optimizing costs for the client.
Own the governance and execution of all workstreams related to the overall program
Build effective team capacity to plan and implement the Project. This includes staffing of key project positions to ensure successful delivery such as leads for Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Project and Financial Controls, EHS.
Ensure project is meeting pre-outage milestones in both engineering and installation planning.
Track all contractual obligations and ensure that they are met (Audits, Timesheets, Invoicing, etc.)
Own financial forecasting for project portfolio, to be consolidated up to region lead on monthly basis
Serve as primary customer point of contact for the program, owning negotiation of emergent issues
Prepare monthly demand reports based on project pipeline with GOS to ensure proper resource allocation
Collaborate with PCs and CMs resources to ensure project is executed on time and within budget
Conduct monthly project reviews with Westinghouse executive leadership
Oversee resources (incl. contractors) to ensure timely completion of work
Follow project by progress on schedule, deliverables vs costs, spend, & budgets
Receive feedback on areas at risk and requiring additional scrutiny and/or support
Engage with customers throughout project lifecycle as point of contact, escalate as needed
Accountable to manage procurement as needed, track delivery, ensure quality control
Analyzes and manages risks for the Project. Establish risk profile for the Project and proactively manage mitigation plans, dealing dynamically with unexpected outcomes to ensure success
Identify and support efforts towards project optimization and innovation via current industry lessons learned and other comparable initiatives
Develop and maintain relationships with the WEC functional leadership from Engineering, Outage and Maintenance Services, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams for effective delivery of Project scope. Engage to support and to use effective influence/communication to lift barriers to successful completion scope.
Effectively communicate with internal and external customers and partners to identify and prioritize needs.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or other business relevant area
MBA degree is preferred
5+ years of leadership experience in major project delivery and/or Engineer, Procurement Construction (EPC) management at commercial nuclear facilities
Program Management Professional certificate prefered
Strong nuclear / industrial safety and HuP mindset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent facilitation and leadership skills working with both internal and external resources
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, partners, and internal and external stakeholders is required.
Experience in working and leading in a matrix organization
Proven successful experience in executive interface both internally and externally
