Job summary

Kitchell in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Project Director to provide executive leadership during Preconstruction and Construction, mentoring project teams and driving performance on assigned projects.

You will recruit, develop staff, manage budgets, and maintain key client and design-team relationships while guiding strategic goals and operational excellence across complex commercial work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of development, construction, architecture, real estate, marketing.
  • Skilled in project management software and equipment is required.
  • Technical knowledge, scheduling, and organizational skills are required.
  • Leadership of bid process and project forecasting is required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and facilitation skills; including the ability to influence, negotiate and explain complex processes to clients and staff are required.
  • Coaching, mentoring and personnel development skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with and train assigned staff to comply with Kitchell procedures, strategic and long term goals.
  • Participate in development and implementation of Kitchell’s strategic and long term goals.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop Kitchell employees to their fullest potential. Conduct goal setting, performance, and salary reviews on a (minimum) annual basis.
  • Monitor budget and operating plan for compliance with staff and expenditures.
  • Maintain leadership role in Preconstruction Services on assigned projects.
  • Monitor activities and operational issues, and facilitate understanding and resolution of problems.Oversee all administrative functions of project operation.
  • Develop promotional materials, and attend functions and events to promote company.
  • Develop and maintain professional business relationships with clients, public officials, subcontractors, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of business and land development activities and municipal planning throughout region; plan and propose opportunities to management.
  • May be responsible for the supervision of the Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, Senior Project Superintendent, Project Superintendent and/or Operations Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Project Director will provide executive level leadership during the Preconstruction as well as Construction Phases on assigned projects. Establish and maintain positive relationships with Clients and the Design Team. Recruit, hire, train and develop Kitchell employees to their fullest potential. Assist in business development, proposals/presentations, estimating, bidding, and contract negotiation phases of all assigned projects.

WHAT YOU NEED.

To be successful in this role the Project Director will have:
