Job summary

Vanir Construction Management, Inc. is seeking a Construction Project Director (Seller-Doer) to lead multiple project teams and oversee client relationships, marketing, and financial management. The role focuses on developing new work opportunities in Education, Aviation, Healthcare and Justice.

The position reports to the Area Manager and requires guiding design and construction with strict adherence to budget, schedule, and client requirements across diverse projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field.
  • 9+ years of construction experience providing project/program management services.
  • Experience managing the full construction life-cycle for education projects: pre-construction, design phases, and oversight of constructability reviews.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation and related practices.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office; experience with MS Project or Primavera.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, coordination, and direction for local construction programs.
  • Ensure programs and projects stay on budget and schedule while meeting client requirements.
  • Manage client interface, scope, schedule, and budget as senior field leader.
  • Develop an implementation plan and master schedule reflecting client priorities.
  • Provide timely financial reporting to the client and bond oversight committee.
  • Develop and review contract documents.
  • Report to client’s senior management on all project matters.
  • Document and report program/project data accurately and timely.
  • Track program/project status and produce management reports on scheduling, cost, staffing.
  • Create and present program/project data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure consultants adhere to safety, performance, staff, and equipment requirements.
  • Establish/update hit and prospect lists; identify team composition and prepare fee proposals.
  • Prepare for interviews and determine joint venture and subconsultant participation.

Job Description

The Construction Project Director (Seller-Doer) provides leadership in areas of project management and operations overseeing multiple project teams. Duties include client relationships, marketing, internal administration, financial management, and employee development. This role is key in developing new work opportunities by identifying new leads, establishing new business contacts, potentially acting as proposal champion and/or capture manager for new pursuits in Education, Aviation, Healthcare and Justice.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The primary duties of a successful Project Director will focus on providing the planning, coordination, and direction for local construction programs. Duties include ensuring the program and individual projects are on budget and schedule, and the design fits the client’s requirements. This position will support design and construction and will be responsible for client interface, scope, schedule, and budget tasks as senior leadership in the field. This position will report to the Area Manager.

  • Lead construction efforts in accordance with the client’s program policies and procedures
  • Develop an implementation plan and master schedule that reflects the priorities of the client
  • Responsible for timely completion of all deliverables required by the client
  • Financial reporting to the client and the bond oversight committee
  • Develop and review contract documents
  • Report and collaborate with client’s senior management team on all project matters
  • Document and report all program/project data accurately and in a timely manner
  • Track all program and project level status and provide management reports relative to scheduling, cost control, staffing and other related contract requirements
  • Create and present program and project data clearly to multiple internal and external stakeholder groupsPerform other related duties as assigned to ensure program and project success
  • Ensure contractor, architect, engineer, and all other consultants will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
  • Has primary responsibility for establishing/updating hit list; conducting hit list research; developing relationships; identifying team composition; developing proposals; preparing for interviews; developing the fee proposal
  • Has secondary responsibility for establishing/updating prospect list; making decision to submit proposal; determining joint venture and/or subconsultant participation; proposal production
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related degree is required
  • 9+ years of construction experience providing project / program management services
  • Experience in managing the full construction of education construction project life-cycle: including pre-construction, design phases, and oversight of constructability reviews is required
  • Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are required
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project related scheduling systems such as MS Project or Primavera are required
Certificates or Licenses
  • CMAA - Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is preferred
  • DBIA - Design Build Associate, or Professional certification is preferred
  • Registered Architect or Professional Engineer is preferred
