Job summary

BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc. is seeking a Project Development Specialist to define and coordinate design-build projects, using CAD drawings and pre-construction data to support the engineering team.

You will work across departments, attend pre-coordination meetings, and help with value engineering, constructability reviews, and continuous improvement while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 2-year technical degree, or 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in algebra and trigonometry.
  • 3 years of experience in the metal building field.
  • Experience communicating with contractors, engineers, and architects.
  • Proficient in CAD and Revit modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Builds CAD drawings (permit and anchor bolt drawings) for pre-construction use.
  • Coordinates pre-construction drawings with production team and customer to verify accuracy.
  • Provides technical expertise to customers.
  • Attends pre-coordination meetings, evaluations, and constructability reviews.
  • Supports continuous improvement, cost reduction, quality, and safety.

The Specialist prepares and coordinates detailed descriptions of projects and their requirements to allow accurate and efficient processing by the Engineering team. They also coordinate the planning of a construction project before Engineering phase begins as well as participate in pre-coordination meetings, evaluations, studies, value engineering and analysis, and constructability reviews of best practices. The Project Development Specialist uses engineering systems and drawings to provide project coordination, structural design services, and up-front information for customers. The Specialist focuses on continuous improvement, cost reduction, quality, and safety. They also focus on supporting and engaging in a collaborative work environment with all internal associates and clients.Key Focus Areas:Builds and develops CAD drawings (Permit and Anchor Bolt drawings for pre-construction use by builders, end clients, and internal customers.Coordinates pre-construction drawings with production team and customer to verify pre-construction information accuracy. Ensures customer design service needs are met by meeting drawing and information collaboration deliverables and producing and managing drawing setsDevelops and grows software and technical knowledge and skills to keep up with changes in software developmentProvides technical expertise to customersAttends applicable meetingsRequired Qualifications & Experience: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:Associate or 2-year technical degree or 2 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degreeProficient in Algebra and Trigonometry3 years of experience in the Metal Building fieldExperience in communicating with contractors, engineers, and architectsDesired Qualifications: To be considered an ideal candidate, you should possess some or all of the following qualifications:5+ years of experience in the Metal Building fieldGeneral understanding and ability to read architectural drawings and specificationsProficient in CAD and Revit modelingSkills & Competencies:Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel & Outlook)Experience with Autodesk Programs preferredStrong communication skillsAbility to multi-taskAbility to prioritizeFlexibility with travel requirements and overtime when requiredProblem solvingAdditional InformationThe preceding job responsibilities and tasks were designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by associates in this job.
