Project Development Manager

Location: Peak Power Inc., New York, New York, United States.

Peak Power is a North American cleantech company delivering end‑to‑end battery energy storage solutions to large commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities operating in IESO, ISO‑NE, PJM, and NYISO. Leveraging industry‑leading forecasting and market intelligence, we help energy users reduce costs, generate revenue, and achieve sustainability goals.

Role Overview

Reporting to the COO, the Project Development Manager will drive the execution and delivery of Peak’s electric asset portfolio. The role requires deep knowledge of ISO markets, energy storage, and power systems, and involves leading project initiation, defining calendars, work‑breakdown structures, deliverable acceptance, and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and document RFPs and scope of work packages for third‑party EPC firms.
  • Participate in EPC selection and contract negotiation.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential projects, evaluate site suitability, and review environmental, geo‑technical, and other reports.
  • Define acceptance criteria for project deliverables, establish delivery dates, and oversee client deliverable reviews to secure sign‑off.
  • Monitor and report on progress; evaluate processes and systems to improve efficiency.
  • Lead project status update meetings with management, utilities, EPCs, and finance counterparts, providing detailed project plans and dashboards.
  • Manage EPC contractor schedules, budgets, scope, subcontractors, EHS plans, and permit compliance.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with battery OEMs and balance‑of‑plant vendors.
  • Coordinate internal team activities (engineering, construction management, commissioning, procurement, asset management, legal, finance, accounting) and deliverables of EPC contractors and stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance, efficiency, scalability, and contribute to portfolio growth.
Qualifications
  • 5–7+ years of professional experience in project development or related role.
  • 3–5+ years of experience developing and constructing behind‑and‑front‑of‑the‑meter energy storage projects.
  • Experience with wind and solar projects is an asset.
  • Familiarity with battery storage design and technical standards, civil and structural technical knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills.
  • Project Management Institute PMP certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of NESC, NFPA 855 & UL 9540.
  • Proficiency in MS Project and Office Suite.
  • Ability to work 25–50% travel, flexible hours, non‑traditional work week.
