Job description

Human Resources recruits, hires, maintains records, and evaluations of employees. It conducts background checks, manages the Agency’s computerized payroll system, and provides HR-related information and training.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Perform administrative functions in the Human Resources division with some independence.
  2. Analyze data and generate detailed reports.
  3. Serve as liaison to other divisions, agencies, and organizations.
  4. Maintain and review employee records and compile reports.
  5. Research and draft responses to inquiries.
  6. Track probationary status and process extension requests.
  7. Draft and edit job postings and interview matrices.
  8. Schedule interviews and distribute materials.
  9. Manage special projects and assignments.
  10. Provide administrative support such as filing, answering phones, and inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree and two years of related community work or activities; or
  • High school diploma/equivalent and six years of related community work; or
  • Equivalent education/experience as above, with at least one year of experience as in criterion one.
Preferred Skills
  • Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Interest and experience in Personnel or Human Resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint; knowledge of PMS and NYCAPS is a plus.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and work independently or in teams.

Residency in NYC or nearby counties is required depending on length of service. NYC residency required within 90 days for other candidates.
