Job description

NYC Parks Community Coordinator

NYC Parks brings free and open arts and cultural events across the five boroughs. Through Arts, Culture & Fun events at our parks and recreation centers, patrons can listen to world-class musicians, enjoy theater, learn dance, and participate in artistic workshops.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with borough Recreation offices to create and manage "Arts, Culture & Fun" programming, youth arts programs, cultural celebrations, and special events.
  2. Manage special events and programs showcasing NYC's cultural landscape, including logistics, staffing, and creating run of show documents.
  3. Execute engagement and promotion plans for events, recruit participants, design curricula, create promotional materials, and document success.
  4. Document programs through photography and summaries, evaluate programs, collect data, and prepare reports.
  5. Manage existing partnerships and develop new ones to diversify offerings.
  6. Assist in writing proposals and applying for grants.
  7. Provide administrative and operational support to other Recreation efforts.
  8. Assist with special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree and two years of community work experience, or
  • High school diploma and six years of relevant experience, or
  • Equivalent education/experience with at least one year of experience as described above.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with cultural institutions, arts administration, education, or programming.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Office 365.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Valid NY State driver license.
Additional Benefits

Eligible employees may qualify for federal loan forgiveness programs. Residency in NYC or nearby counties is required for certain employees.
