Job summary

Furniture Marketing Group in New York, NY is seeking a Project Designer to translate client requirements into practical interior environments. You will collaborate with sales and clients to define project scope, budget, and timelines, and develop plans and specifications using CAD tools.

The role requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience, strong reading and presentation skills, and the ability to travel to job sites for measurements and reviews. Competitive salary and showroom access offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret business materials.
  • Ability to present information to managers and clients.
  • Strong mathematical and geometric reasoning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Confers with salesperson and/or client to determine purpose and function of environment, budget, scope of project, time schedules, project proposals, types of furniture and equipment to be installed, and other factors which affect planning interior environments.
  • Integrates findings with knowledge of interior design and formulates environmental plan to be practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended purposes such as raising productivity, selling merchandise, or improving office efficiency.
  • Advise on interior design factors such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, color schemes, color coordination, codes, and works council requirements.
  • Renders schematic design, working drawings, product specifications, paste‑ups, drawings, or illustrations, estimates material requirements and cost, and presents design to client for review, approval, implementation and follow‑through.
  • Maintains project files and timesheets on all work performed.
  • Attends design/sales meetings and seminars as requested.
  • Attend client meetings, both on‑site and off‑site.
