Overview
Convergint is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and managed electronic/physical security design professional who, under limited supervision, executes and coordinates design engineering tasks for moderate to high complexity projects and for systems such as access control, video surveillance, intruder alarms, intercoms, and other technologies. This colleague will provide design engineering support to customers and projects across our vertical teams and our CTCs, and will be responsible for the delivery of these services and support for the projects assigned to them.

Responsibilities
- Provide design or drawing assistance for projects during development and as‑built stages of engineered drawings. Work on projects with varying levels of complexity, including moderately complex design projects. Obtain electronic plans from engineers/architects/owners, obtain design drawings from sprinkler and mechanical contractors, create engineered drawings (AutoCAD, etc.), and prepare record drawings and O&M manuals according to project requirements.
- Work from rough sketches, schematics, and verbal instructions. Maintain Convergint project design, documentation, and submittal standards. Ensure adherence to industry standards and codes as required. Support and maintain Convergint design standards. Apply intermediate and advanced drafting techniques and knowledge of practical electrical and fabrication problems.
- Review scope, product specifications, applications, and electrical requirements for code compliance and AHJ requirements. Work assignments may be moderate and/or more complex in scope.
- Participate in internal design review meetings as coordinated by Project Managers. Participate in project turnover meetings with sales and project teams. Provide project teams with all documentation and programming graphics according to Convergint standards and project requirements.
- Prepare and procure project materials. Obtain project design information from vendors, insurance carriers, owners, consultants, and AHJ as required. Obtain and facilitate all project permits.
- Communicate design progress, committed completion dates, design scope revisions, and associated costs to Project Managers. Discuss anticipated overtime requirements with Project Managers.
- Perform change-order work only with formal authorization to proceed. Assist the project team with change-order pricing.
- Participate in initial site surveys and/or walkthroughs. Prepare submittal packages according to project requirements or Convergint standards. Revise submittals as required to gain approval.
- Provide operational support for the sales phase of projects when needed. May include training and work direction for other designers.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

- Experience with AutoCAD

Requirements
Education
- Minimum two-year technical degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering desirable
Experience
- Minimum of three years of previous design, engineering, field service, or project management experience in the electronic security industry
- Minimum three years of AutoCAD experience
Certifications & Licenses
- Local, federal, and industry-specific licenses as required — Security
