Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Project Designer to join our team in the United States. You will create design and drawing production, collaborate with sales, operations and customers, and prepare submittals in line with Convergint standards.

You will manage multiple projects, maintain documentation, and communicate progress, revisions, and costs to Project Managers, while ensuring quality and compliance with industry codes.

Qualifications

• Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years in engineering, field service or design project management.
• 3+ years AutoCAD experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide design and drawing production services for projects through development and as-built stages.
• Coordinate with sales, operations and customers to obtain electronic plans.
• Prepare submittal packages and revise as required to gain approval.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate progress and costs to managers.
• Ensure adherence to Convergint standards and industry codes.

• Provides design and drawing production services for projects during the development and as-built stages of the projects.
• Works on projects of varying levels of complexity.
• Works with sales, operations, and customer teams to obtain electronic plans from engineers/architects/owners.
• Works from spots and dots, conceptual and/or schematic designs.
• Utilizes and maintains Convergint project design, documentation, and submittal standards.
• Ensures adherence to industry standards and codes as required.
• Reviews and ensures understanding of scope of services to be provided to lead / manage the design efforts for assigned projects
• Participates in internal design review meetings as coordinated by the Project Managers.
• Participates in project turnover meetings with both sales and project team.
• Provides project team with all documentation, programming graphics, etc. according to Convergint standards and project requirements.
• Obtains project design information as required from the PM.
• Communicates all design progress, committed completion dates, design scope revisions, and associated costs to the Project Managers.
• Discusses all anticipated overtime requirements with the Project Managers.
• Performs change-order work only with formal authorization to proceed.
• Organizes/Maintains Status’s and Documentation of Projects.
• Work with more experienced project designers making sure the design is accurate, as per standards and aligned with the customer requirements
• Prepares submittal packages according to project requirements or Convergint standards.
• Revises submittals as required to gain approval.

Performs Other Duties And Responsibilities As Requested Or Required.

What You’ll Need

• Excellent Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Excellent Bluebeam skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
• Customer Focus – Maintaining awareness of and seeking to meet of the needs and wants of the customer.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Able to solve problems and be proactive with tasks.

Requirements

The anticipated compensation of this position is $34.32 to $51.50 per hour.
