Job summary

EnerSys is seeking a Project Design Engineer to design, engineer, and cost critical power construction projects. You will generate designs, support construction, and act as a SME for technical issues across critical facilities like data centers and 5G deployments.

The role requires collaboration with engineering and architectural resources, vendor coordination, and reliable cost estimations. You will drive continuous improvement and support sales with technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or related technical field.
• Experience with critical power systems, including protected DC power and AC power systems.
• Basic understanding of cooling systems, control systems, AC switchgear, and generator systems.
• Experience in project management and operations environments.
• Understanding of financial statements, budgets, and engineering economic calculations.
• Ability to create, document, and present design concepts to customers and operations teams.
• Experience working with professional engineers and architects.
• Familiarity with construction techniques and ability to apply them to design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Quote and execute successful field projects within critical facilities environments, including oversight and direction of design and estimation deliverables from team members.
• Work with the Manager, PMO to establish, track, and update team KPIs.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for critical facility infrastructure and coach team members, including estimators, project managers, and sales personnel, on technical matters.
• Develop and refine tools and processes to improve team efficiency and accuracy. Work closely with internal and external customers to determine requirements and provide cost-effective, innovative recommendations.
• Generate, read, interpret, and explain RFQs, SOWs, and drawings to support timely creation of solutions, estimates, and related documentation while adhering to company guidelines.
• Maintain knowledge of client-specific standards and industry standards, such as Telcordia, within the data center and critical facilities environment.
• Support the Sales team in identifying and qualifying new market opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with customers, technicians, and project coordinators.
• Develop overall project execution strategies and plans. Manage change control processes and implement approved changes.
• Assist in delivering closeout documentation to clients in a timely manner.
