Job summary

SES (Steel Equipment Specialists) is seeking a full-time Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Alliance, Ohio team. You will design and lead mechanical systems for metals processing, creating 2D/3D drawings with Inventor/AutoCAD and managing BOM accuracy.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (or substantial experience) and 5+ years in machine design, preferably in metals/heavy equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or substantial work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in machine design, ideally metals/heavy equipment.
  • Salary benchmarking and strong compensation alignment for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems for metals processing and related industries.
  • Lead mechanical system design from concept through release to meet client specifications.
  • Create 2D/3D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Specify components and manage BOM accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to meet project goals and address design challenges.
  • Optimize designs for efficiency, reliability, manufacturability and cost competitiveness.
  • Handle multiple projects while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Produce accurate 2D/3D drawings; Inventor training available if needed.
  • Communicate effectively with SES team members in a collaborative environment.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting.
  • Perform basic machinery design calculations and assess system performance.
  • Background knowledge of steel mill equipment and related processes is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical control systems is a plus.

Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $100,000.00 Annually

With a strong dedication to innovation, design, and commissioning, we are seeking a full-time hands‑on Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team in Alliance, Ohio

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop custom-designed mechanical systems for metals, metals forming and related industries
  • Lead the mechanical system design from concept through release, ensuring adherence to the client specifications.
  • Create detailed mechanical drawings, schematics, and layouts primarily using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D formats.
  • Select and specify mechanical components and materials, managing bills of materials (BOM) to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address design requirements, technical challenges, and support project goals.
  • Optimize designs to enhance efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and competitiveness in the marketplace.
  • Juggle multiple projects simultaneously while upholding high standards of quality.
  • Proficient in producing 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, preferably with Autodesk Inventor or other equivalent 3D software. Training on Inventor is available for those proficient in other platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented engineering environment.
  • Strong communication skills are crucial; candidates should feel comfortable engaging in both written and verbal discourse with SES team members.
  • Preparedness to thrive in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused setting.
  • Highly motivated with a knack for developing innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Capable of performing basic machinery design calculations

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, though candidates with substantial work experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in machine design is required, ideally within the metals industry focusing on heavy equipment
