Job summary

Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, seeks a Project Cost Manager to oversee cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis across projects. You will coordinate with project managers, finance, supply chain, and stakeholders to keep projects within budgets and optimize financial performance.

Responsibilities include leading cost control activities, developing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and preparing cost reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in project cost control, project finance, or project controls.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all project cost control activities.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor expenditures and commitments against approved budgets.
  • Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost performance reports for management.
  • Oversee invoice verification, cost coding, and budget allocations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, procurement, sales, and finance.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and project control procedures.
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and resource forecasting.
  • Review change orders and contract variations for cost impact.
  • Manage and mentor cost controlling team members.
  • Assist with audits and financial closeout processes.
  • Improve cost control systems, reporting tools, and operational efficiency.

Job description

Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking a Project Cost Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing project cost control functions, ensuring projects are completed within approved budgets and financial targets. This role manages cost planning, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis while coordinating with project managers, finance, supply chain, and stakeholders to optimize project financial performance and minimize risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all project cost control activities
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor project expenditures and commitments against approved budgets
  • Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost performance reports for management
  • Oversee invoice verification, cost coding, and budget allocations
  • Coordinate with project managers, procurement, sales, and finance departments
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and project control procedures

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in project cost control, project finance, or project controls
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP systems (e.g., Glovia) is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, all employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include/hearing protection, and safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA compliant safety boots/shoes.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing duties of this job, the person in this position might remain stationary for long periods of time, while operating a computer and other office machinery. This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets and operate office machinery.

The employee might occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.

On occasion, the employee may be required to visit the shop that is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

No travel is required for this position.
