Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager to guide an agile team through product development, ensuring adherence to SDLC and balanced scope, schedule, and cost. You will act as a servant leader, coaching the team and keeping stakeholders informed about progress and risks.

The role is remote with residency required in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TX; you will coordinate across programs and participate in agile ceremonies and Jira/Trello/Asana work streams.

Qualifications

• Web technology platform knowledge preferred.
• Experience in digital media strongly preferred.
• Agile project management training and at least 2 years of experience.
• Previous project management experience.
• PMP or CSM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply agile and occasional waterfall methodologies to initiatives from idea to launch and beyond, aligning with SDLC standards and company strategy.
• Lead all aspects of the project, including planning, execution, timely delivery, functionality, quality, issue tracking, and communication.
• Maintain accountability for project delivery to the PMO, business owner, and stakeholders.
• Create initial project planning documentation, including assumptions/constraints, success measures, quality measures, risks, mitigation plans, issues, dependencies, schedules, and change control strategy.
• Report progress, risks, and issues to management and stakeholders; track risks, mitigation, known issues, change requests, and change impact; resolve blockers to completion.
• Contribute to quarterly planning, Scrum of Scrums, and other agile ceremonies; participate in the project management community of practice.
• Lead by facilitation using standard scrum and scaled agile methodologies.
• Enforce work priorities as determined with product owner, business owner, and stakeholders; obtain sign-off on key deliverables.
• Conduct post-project reviews, lessons-learned discussions, and retrospectives.
• Draft project archives and process improvement plans; add documentation to repository for future projects.
• Project management platform familiarity (Jira, Trello, Asana, etc.)

A Project Manager at MediaNews Group is responsible for the flow of work through product development and acts as a servant leader and coach for an agile team. You will lead the team via agile practices, ensuring that the agreed-upon process is followed. In a larger project management context, you will be responsible for balancing the competing needs of scope, schedule, and cost, while uncovering and monitoring risks. Finally, the Project Manager keeps stakeholders apprised of the status of a project or ongoing product development and is highly visible throughout the organization.

You will be running a scrum team and playing the role of project manager on a larger program as needed. Although this is a remote role, candidates must reside in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TX.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc.
