The City Bar Justice Center (CBJC) seeks an enthusiastic and organized individual to join our three-person project coordinator team for the Federal Pro Se Legal Assistance Project operating in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (FedPro-SDNY). One project coordinator position is available for a candidate committed to expanding access to justice.
FedPro-SDNY provides free, limited-scope legal assistance to pro se individuals—including incarcerated persons—litigating civil cases mainly in civil rights, prisoner rights, employment discrimination, contracts, warranties, consumer/finance, and other core individual rights cases. Coordinators assist with litigant intake, case management, and liaising with law student interns, volunteer attorneys, and social workers to support litigants.
The CBJC annually provides high-quality, free civil legal services benefiting over 27,000 New Yorkers. We collaborate with law firms, legal departments, law schools, courts, and other stakeholders. Over 2,200 pro bono attorneys support our projects annually.

Qualifications and Skills:
This role requires starting in May or early June, with a minimum two-year commitment. It is a hybrid position with 2-3 days in-person at the downtown Manhattan courthouse and the rest remote or at CBJC’s midtown offices. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship).
Compensation and Benefits: Starting salary of at least $51,250 for a 35-hour workweek, with benefits including paid time off, health insurance, 401K, and more, per the collective bargaining agreement.
