Project Coordinator (Environmental Field Technician)

Location: Midland, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: Regional, as needed (field-based role)

Compensation

$20.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience and field capabilities. Overtime and travel compensation available based on project demands.

About the Role

The Project Coordinator (Environmental Field Technician) is a hands-on, field-driven role supporting environmental remediation, site assessment, and compliance projects across the Midland region. This position combines field execution with project coordination support, assisting Project Managers while actively working on job sites.

This role is primarily field-based and ideal for someone who wants to build real-world environmental experience while developing project coordination skills. You will support ongoing projects through fieldwork, documentation, and communication—helping keep projects organized, compliant, and on schedule.

This is a developmental role designed for individuals growing into Project Coordinator and future Project Manager positions.

Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
  • Perform environmental fieldwork including:
    • Soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling
    • Monitoring well gauging and sampling
    • Remediation system monitoring and basic troubleshooting
  • Support drilling activities and subcontractor oversight in the field
  • Assist with site setup, maintenance, and demobilization
  • Maintain accurate field notes, logs, and documentation
Project Coordination Support
  • Assist Project Managers with scheduling, task tracking, and field coordination
  • Track project progress, field activities, and key milestones
  • Support preparation of field reports, summaries, and documentation packages
  • Assist with change order tracking and scope updates
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain organized project documentation including:
    • Field logs and sampling records
    • Photo documentation and daily reports
  • Support regulatory documentation and reporting efforts
  • Ensure field activities align with project scope, permits, and safety requirements
Communication
  • Communicate field updates, issues, and progress to Project Managers
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, and internal teams
  • Act as a link between field operations and project management
Health & Safety
  • Follow all Health & Safety policies and site-specific requirements
  • Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and safety meetings
  • Maintain awareness of site hazards and changing field conditions
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of environmental field experience (remediation, assessment, or compliance preferred)
  • Experience with environmental sampling, field documentation, or site work
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and active job site conditions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with:
    • Phase I / Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
    • Groundwater, soil, or vapor sampling
    • Remediation system operations or monitoring
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER (or ability to obtain)
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations or compliance programs
  • Experience with project tracking tools (Excel, Vantagepoint, or similar)
Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position requires working in outdoor environments, including active remediation and industrial sites. Work may involve:

  • Walking on uneven terrain
  • Lifting equipment and materials
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
