Department Summary

The UCLA Department of Social Welfare's research and teaching guide policy makers, shape practice and programs in such areas as welfare, aging, health care, mental health, children and families, and long-term support. UCLA Social Welfare faculty members are committed to placing their knowledge at the service of communities and empowering the disadvantaged and the vulnerable.

Position Summary

The UCLA Department of Social Welfare seeks a Research Data Analyst with knowledge in research design, data management, and scholarly writing to support initiatives within the Gerontology Interdisciplinary Minor. The Research Data Analyst will apply statistical methodologies to original research aimed at generating actionable insights to enhance intergenerational engagement, interpersonal processes, bonding mechanisms, and health and aging across generations. The incumbent will work closely with the Principal Investigator and play a key role on a multidisciplinary research team, collaborating on grant development, study design and implementation, data management, statistical analysis, project coordination, and dissemination of findings. The incumbent will contribute to the interpretation of research findings and the preparation of reports and scholarly materials to support researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and community partners.

Qualifications
  • Experience with Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods. (Required)
  • Working experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining data management and cleaning protocols to ensure high-quality, accurate, and consistent data sets for analysis. (Required)
  • Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages such as SPSS, Atlas and more. (Required)
  • Proficiency in Database Systems and Query Languages such as REDCap, Qualtrics and Endnote. (Required)
  • Knowledge of Human Subjects Research and IRB Protocols. (Required)
  • Experience with Implementation Science and Equity Frameworks. (Preferred)
  • Ability to develop and analyze Data Visualization and Reporting. (Required)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical findings to draw meaningful conclusions, identify trends, anomalies, and patterns. (Required)
  • Ability to translate complex Technical Writing and Documentation. (Required)
  • Experience in project coordination, with a demonstrated ability to manage project timelines and deliverables. (Preferred)
  • Strong oral/written communication and public speaking skills with various audiences (e.g. faculty, staff, students, and community partners). (Required)
  • Ability to Maintain Confidentiality and Data Security. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, or Social Research and/or combination of experience/training. (Required) And
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, or Social Research. (Preferred) And
  • PhD in Social Work, Social Welfare, or Social Research. (Preferred)
