The Project Coordinator in the Clearance Coordination Center within Gas Control is responsible for planning, authorizing, and coordinating gas-related work across transmission and distribution operations. This role focuses on avoiding simultaneous work conflicts, maintaining situational awareness of all activities affecting gas assets, overseeing field resources, supporting audits through accurate documentation and analysis, and ensuring adherence to gas standards and operational notices. The Project Coordinator applies specialized utility and industry knowledge, uses analytical tools to review concurrent work and system conditions, and provides exceptional customer service while delivering meaningful performance metrics for clearance center activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize the order in which clearance requests are granted, and suspend or modify previously granted requests based on system-wide situational awareness and changing conditions.

  • Analyze and record work using Clearance Management tools such as j5, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and similar applications to maintain accurate and timely documentation.

  • Use data to verify compliance with applicable standards, including 1170.020, and support audit requests by preparing and providing required documentation and analysis.

  • Communicate necessary changes and system events to appropriate internal and external stakeholders, including upstream suppliers, Gas Control, and field personnel, to maintain situational awareness.

  • Apply specialized utility and industry knowledge and analysis tools to review concurrent work, supply positions, and real-time system conditions, and revise gas special instructions as needed.

  • Independently evaluate and approve clearance requests and other assigned work, exercising sound judgment and discretion in a high-profile, fast-paced environment.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal teams and external partners while generating meaningful metrics to measure the performance of all clearance center activities.

  • Perform self-guided study and training as instructed to maintain up-to-date knowledge of gas operations, standards, and clearance procedures.

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret technical plans, processes, and procedures related to gas operations and clearances.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent clearance requests and system events.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with field personnel, Gas Control, upstream suppliers, and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to perform duties effectively under emergency and contingency situations, maintaining composure and sound judgment under pressure.

  • Capability to perform self-guided study and training as instructed to continually improve technical and operational knowledge.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data entry, analysis, and reporting.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy when recording and analyzing work in clearance management tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in the gas utility industry or natural gas operations.

  • Experience manipulating and analyzing data in software applications such as Excel, Access, SCADA, Synergi, j5, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in a high-profile, fast-paced environment, particularly when approving or modifying clearance requests.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to make decisions among various alternatives under pressure while clearly communicating decisions to all stakeholders.

  • Experience and knowledge of utility or industrial operations, including familiarity with gas standards and operational notices.
