ISC is growing, and we are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support our engineering and industrial project teams.
This is not simply an administrative role.
The Project Coordinator will work alongside project managers, engineers, and designers to help keep multiple projects organized, moving forward, and aligned with client expectations. This person will serve as an important connection point between technical teams, project leadership, clients, and ISC management.
We are looking for someone who naturally pays attention to the details—someone who notices when an action item hasn't been closed, a deliverable is approaching, a client is waiting for information, or a project is beginning to drift from its schedule or budget.
For the right person, this role offers significant opportunity to grow alongside ISC and take on increasing project management responsibility.
What You'll Do
Project Coordination & Execution
- Support multiple engineering and design projects simultaneously.
- Maintain project schedules, action-item lists, deliverable registers, and project documentation.
- Coordinate project meetings and document decisions, responsibilities, and follow-up actions.
- Track project milestones and upcoming deliverables.
- Follow up with engineers, designers, clients, and other stakeholders to keep commitments moving forward.
- Help coordinate project resources and priorities across multiple assignments.
- Assist project managers with project startup, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
- Maintain organized project files and records.
Project Controls & Visibility
- Help track project budgets, hours, progress, and remaining work.
- Compare project progress against schedule and budget and identify potential concerns.
- Assist with forecasting resource needs and upcoming workload.
- Support preparation of project status reports and internal project reviews.
- Track scope changes and help ensure changes are documented and communicated.
- Help maintain visibility into project health for ISC leadership.
Client & Team Coordination
- Participate in internal and client project meetings.
- Coordinate communication between clients, engineers, designers, and project leadership.
- Help ensure client requests and commitments are documented and followed through.
- Prepare meeting agendas, notes, action-item logs, and project correspondence.
- Maintain professional and responsive communication with clients and project partners.
- Help ISC improve and standardize project execution processes.
- Assist with developing project templates, workflows, checklists, and reporting tools.
- Participate in project lessons learned and identify opportunities to improve future execution.
- Help build repeatable systems that allow ISC to successfully manage a growing portfolio of projects.
What We're Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of experience supporting or coordinating projects in an engineering, construction, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or similar technical environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments.
- Comfortable working with schedules, budgets, deliverables, action-item lists, and project documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, designers, project managers, clients, and company leadership.
- Comfortable asking questions, following up with people, and holding action items accountable.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and related business tools.
- Ability to learn new project-management and engineering systems quickly.
Preferred
- 10+ years of project coordination, project controls, engineering support, or project management experience.
- Experience with consulting engineering, EPC/EPCM, construction, oil & gas, mining, energy, food processing, manufacturing, or other industrial projects.
- Experience tracking project budgets, labor hours, schedules, and forecasts.
- Experience with document control and engineering deliverables.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar project-management platforms.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, project management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Who Will Be Successful in This Role?
The strongest candidate will be someone who likes bringing order to complexity.
You don't need to be the engineer designing the system, but you need to be comfortable working alongside technical professionals and understanding how all the pieces of a project fit together.
You should be the kind of person who:
- Notices details others miss.
- Keeps excellent notes and records.
- Follows through without needing repeated reminders.
- Isn't afraid to ask, "Who owns this, and when will it be finished?"
- Can manage competing priorities without losing track of commitments.
- Communicates professionally with both clients and internal teams.
- Takes ownership when something needs to get done.
- Enjoys improving systems instead of simply following them.
Location
This position is based in Bakersfield, California.
This is not a remote position, and relocation assistance is not available. Preference will be given to candidates already located in the Bakersfield area.
Periodic travel to client facilities or project sites may be required.
Why ISC?
Industrial Systems Consulting is a growing engineering and technical services organization supporting industrial clients throughout the western United States.
As we grow, we are intentionally building stronger systems around how projects are planned, executed, monitored, and delivered. The person joining us in this role will have the opportunity to contribute directly to that effort.
This isn't a position where you'll simply maintain someone else's system. You'll help us build better ones.
We value quality work, responsive communication, thoughtful execution, safety, accountability, and being a trusted business partner to our clients.
If you are highly organized, enjoy working with technical teams, and get satisfaction from keeping complicated projects moving in the right direction, we'd like to hear from you.
Come be part of a growing organization and help us build the next stage of ISC.
