Job summary

Targa Resources is seeking a Project Controls Coordinator/Specialist to support the successful execution of capital projects within the E&C team. You will handle cost control, scheduling, and document management, while monitoring KPIs and ensuring policy compliance.

You will also assist with pre-bid validations, AFE reviews, and closeout activities, delivering accurate forecasts and structured reports to management.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Proficiency in Power BI for reporting and analytics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to field locations.

Responsibilities

  • Support cost control, scheduling, and document management for E&C projects.
  • Monitor and report project controls KPIs and monthly accruals.
  • Assist pre-bid supplier validation and AFE structure review in Integrify.
  • Analyze subtask budgets and support CAPEX forecast accuracy with Power BI.
  • Audit AFE status in Power BI to ensure timeliness of close processes.
  • Support project closeout activities including cost/schedule analysis and lessons learned.
  • Classify, label, and store project documents per policy; monitor Job Book controls.
  • Provide oversight to PMs on audit findings and ensure timely rectifications.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Controls Coordinator/Specialist supports the successful execution of capital projects by providing cost control, scheduling, and document management expertise for the Engineering & Construction (E&C) team. This role is responsible for monitoring project financials, tracking key performance indicators, ensuring compliance with company policies, and supporting project closeout activities.

  • Receive and validate pricing/documentation support for POs
  • Monitor and report on assigned E&C project controls KPIs, including monthly receipt accruals by open PO.
  • Assist with pre-bid supplier validation and review AFE structure in Integrify for alignment with CBS codes.
  • Report on subtask budgeting variances and support monthly audit of CAPEX flash using Power BI reports to ensure updated forecasts and accurate variance responses.
  • Monitor and audit AFE status using Power BI reports for “In Service” and “Request Close” to ensure timeliness.
  • Provide support to project closeout activities, including final cost and schedule analysis, lessons learned documentation, and ensuring project documentation quality and completeness.
  • Ensure that project documents are properly classified, labeled, and stored in accordance with company policies and procedures; monitor the Job Book document control process as it relates to Project Close requests.
  • Provide oversight to Project Managers on Job Book audit findings and ensure deficiencies are rectified by required due dates.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements; support with project audits.

  • Provide new and recurring training to Project Managers and Admins on project controls processes.
  • Interact with project management and corporate teams, participate in regular project meetings, and prepare reports and presentations as needed.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines, including eye protection, footwear, hard hat, and fire retardant clothing (FRC)
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions and plant/field environments
  • Ability to work in close quarters, while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
