Job summary

Pelican Energy Consultants is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to oversee scheduling, cost, and reporting across multiple engineering projects. You will develop resource-loaded schedules, monitor variances, and support project managers to keep work on time and within scope.

The role requires a 4-year degree, up to 10 years of project controls experience, and familiarity with Primavera P6. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential; Primavera and PMI Scheduling certification

• 0–10 years related experience in Project Controls; modern scheduling and cost tools.
• Primavera and PMI Scheduling Professional certifications preferred.

Project Controls Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Project Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for the scheduling, project cost, and reporting across a portfolio of Engineering Projects. Ensuring the successful planning, execution, and monitoring of projects schedules, actual cost, and cost forecasting. Support long term manpower planning. Implement project control processes and procedures to assure consistency across projects and teams. Monitor schedule and cost across the company to assure teams meet process and procedural requirements. You’ll be responsible for creating and maintaining resource-loaded schedules, managing risks, and supporting project managers through effective project controls. Your expertise in Primavera P6 software will be essential to delivering engineering projects on time and within scope. Direct interface with Project Managers, lead project engineering and design teams. Develop and strengthen relationships with client Project Controls Personnel.

Planning

• Meet with the proposal manager and ensure full understanding of stakeholder expectations, scope of work, deliverables and develop a schedule to support the required proposal requirements.

• Ensure engineering design-leads develop execution plans and update the project controls systems. Validates execution plans.
• Train and Develop Project Controls staff to accomplish project controls requirements.

Executing

• Review and Update Schedule, Budget, and Forecast
• Monitor and control change
• Ensure execution plans are updated when approval of change in scope, schedule, quality, or deliverables is received
• Track Project Progress and issue updated schedule to Project Manager Bi-weekly highlighting issues and schedule slips.
• Maintain the appropriate level of communication with Management
• Ensure project team follows company Project Controls policies and procedures
