Job summary

The role may involve planning, scheduling, or cost engineering with strong knowledge of project controls principles.

The position is traveling up to 25% across the assigned project area, with relocation assistance available. MassTec’s CE&I segment supports heavy civil, utilities, renewables, and infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a project controls management role.
  • Experience with project controls principles and scheduling/cost analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Manage resource management schedules for all assigned projects.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a scheduling management system.
  • Identify process efficiencies and create new processes to drive schedule efficiencies.
  • Review progressed schedules against deadlines.
  • Participate in meetings with senior operations management, peers and/or customers.
  • Participate in estimating and bidding, contract negotiations, and change order preparation.
  • Identify scheduling delays and facilitate remedial action.
  • Track and report progress of project activities.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to update schedules.
  • Lead and execute Project Planning and Execution Planning Sessions.
  • Lead and execute Logic Development, Schedule Updates and Forecasting.
  • Ensure client Project Controls and Reporting specifications are met per contract.
  • Supports Project Management with project reporting requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining project documentation including plans, reports, statuses.
  • Analyze project data and provide regular progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Conduct cost and schedule variance analysis and develop corrective actions.

The Project Controls Manager is responsible for advanced project controls techniques and analyses to ensure our projects are constructed safely, efficiently, and profitably. Successful candidates may perform all aspects of planning, scheduling, or cost engineering, through knowledge and application of complex project controls principles.

Location & Travel Details

This is a traveling position, up to 25% of the time, encompassing work sites in the assigned project area, covering a 90 mile radius, and may include some overnight travel.

Responsibilities
  • Manage resource management schedules for all assigned projects
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a scheduling management system.
  • Identify process efficiencies and create and manage new processes to drive efficiencies within project schedules
  • Review progressed schedules against schedule deadlines.
  • Participate in meetings with senior operations management, peers and/or customers.
  • Participate in estimating and bidding projects, contract negotiations, and change order preparation.
  • Identify potential scheduling delays and facilitate remedial action.
  • Track and report on the progress of project activities.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, team members, and other stakeholders to gather information and update schedules.
  • Works independently on complex assignments to establish the Proposal or Project Baseline Schedule
  • Lead and execute Project Planning and Execution Planning Session
  • Lead and execute Logic Development, Schedule Updates and Forecasting
  • Ensure client Project Controls and Reporting specifications and requirements are met per contract.
  • Supports Project Management with project reporting requirements.
  • Providing training and guidance to project team members on processes and procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining project documentation, including project plans, reports, and status updates.
  • Analyze project data and provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders.
  • Conduct cost and schedule variance analysis and developing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with project management standards, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or P6 expert (MS Project preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in project controls with a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Experience supporting heavy civil and utilities construction projects
  • Strong understanding of document control software and systems.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to document control.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Understanding of project accounting and financial management.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards.
  • Experience in risk management and analysis.
