Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking an intermediate Cost Controller to provide cost control support across ongoing projects.

You will help ensure project control systems are properly implemented and utilized, aligning estimates with baselines and coordinating with multiple internal teams. The role requires 3-7 years in cost control, a related post-secondary degree, and strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of cost control experience.
• Quantitative, Engineering or Construction Management post-secondary degree.
• Experience on construction, infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects.
• Ability to independently prepare monthly forecasts and cost reports.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for compliance of assigned projects with project controls standards.
• Assist in project set-up, converting bids into baseline budgets, reconciling gaps.
• Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and baselines.
• Liaise with Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Construction, etc. for inputs into project controls reports.
• Create and maintain project status update reports, forecast reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain resource plans, ensuring cost and schedule alignment.
• Conduct variance analysis and propose corrective actions or recovery plans.
• Prepare Earned Value Management KPIs to assess project performance.
• Maintain tools and templates to ensure compliance with Project Controls processes.
• Develop and maintain a change log and monitor through change management.
• Review contracts for compliance with reporting and change management requirements.
• Establish and maintain CBS and control accounts; align SAP with CPM for reporting.
• Monitor forecasts and ensure timely closure of closed cost accounts.
• Coordinate with Finance and Accounting for forecast and month-end reporting.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Subcontractor management for cost reporting and invoicing.
