Job summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Project Controller to join our growing team. In this role, you will independently support a variety of projects spanning different contract types, sizes, and levels of complexity, while working closely with a collaborative team of fellow Project Controllers.

Under the guidance of the Project Control Supervisor, you will lead the planning, tracking, analysis, and performance reporting that keeps our programs on target.

Qualifications

  • 3 years relevant experience with Bachelor's in related field; 1 year with Masters, or 7 years with HS diploma
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of software applications
  • Understanding budgeting, forecasting, EAC development, and cost/schedule performance tracking
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work across diverse teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide cost, schedule, and funding planning, reporting, monitoring, and analytical support to Program Managers
  • Assist with project setup per contractual terms and requirements
  • Prepare EACs and meet deadlines for submissions
  • Enter and update monthly forecasts for supported programs
  • Identify risks and opportunities; partner with PM, Contracts, Procurement, and Finance to resolve
  • Review contract modifications and advise on impacts
  • Perform variance analyses and cost reporting checks
  • Develop Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables ensuring accuracy
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses as needed
  • Monitor funding status and notify on funding levels by line item
  • Support accounts receivable during billing and resolve unbilled issues
  • Assist in preparing subcontractor and vendor accruals per GAAP
  • Ensure program revenue and profit align with EAC
  • Maintain GAAP, SOX, FAR compliance and company policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Project Controller to join our growing team. In this role, you will independently support a variety of projects spanning different contract types, sizes, and levels of complexity, while working closely with a collaborative team of fellow Project Controllers. Under the guidance of the Project Control Supervisor, you will lead the planning, tracking, analysis, and performance reporting that keeps our programs on target.
As a key partner to the Program Manager, you will help shape project goals, monitor progress, identify risks, and recommend actions to improve performance. This position offers broad exposure across the organization, with regular interaction with Program/Project Managers, technical leads, and functional teams including contracts, finance, accounts receivable, subcontract management, and procurement.

A remote or hybrid work schedule is authorized after training period

What You Will Do
  • Provide cost, schedule, and funding planning, reporting, monitoring, and analytical support to Program Managers, including development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and time phased budgets and schedules.
  • Assist with project setup in accordance with contractual terms, conditions, and requirements.
  • Prepare program financial Estimates at Complete (EAC) and meet all required submission deadlines.
  • Enter and update the monthly corporate forecast for supported programs.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities, and partner with Program Management, Contracts, Procurement, and Finance/Accounting to support resolution.
  • Support review and assessment of contract modifications and advise Program Management on potential impacts.
  • Perform analytical reviews and accuracy checks of cost reporting documentation.
  • Prepare complete and accurate variance analyses and associated reporting.
  • Develop financial Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables, ensuring customer requirements are met and submissions are accurate and on time.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses at the request of the Program Management Office (PMO) or other stakeholders.
  • Monitor funding status and provide timely, detailed notifications of funding levels by line item as needed.
  • Support accounts receivable during the billing process by monitoring billing status and collaborating with Finance, Contracts, Accounting, and the PMO to resolve unbilled issues promptly.
  • Assist in preparing subcontractor and vendor accruals in accordance with GAAP and internal policies to ensure accurate internal and external cost/commitment reporting.
  • Ensure program revenue and profit are recorded in alignment with the EAC.
  • Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley, the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and all company policies and procedures related to contract performance and financial reporting.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
What You Must Have
  • 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite, along with working knowledge of relevant software applications.
  • Understanding budgeting, forecasting, EAC development, and cost/schedule performance tracking.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate financial data into clear insights and collaborate effectively across diverse teams while also working independently when required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting program needs.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial data, documentation, and reporting, and proactively identifying discrepancies or risks before they impact program performance.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience using Costpoint for project setup, reporting, and cost management.
  • Background working with a variety of government contract types, including CPFF, FFP, T&M, CPAF, CPIF, and hybrid structures.
  • Experience using OneStream for forecasting, reporting, or consolidation activities.
