Job summary

WTS Energy is seeking a Project Controller for a major transportation project in Renton, WA. The role focuses on project controls from an engineering/construction perspective, working with site teams to manage costs and schedule.

The ideal candidate will have a background in cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and Earned Value Management (EVM), with experience in large infrastructure or EPC projects and proficiency in Excel, JD Edwards, and Vision CPM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in engineering project controls, cost engineering, or construction cost management on large infrastructure/EPC projects.
  • Strong understanding of project cost control principles, forecasting, estimating, earned value management (EVM), and cost performance analysis.
  • Experience monitoring project budgets, procurement commitments, quantities, and cost trends.
  • Ability to analyze cost and schedule performance, identify variances, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project cost control, budget monitoring, cash flow forecasting, and CAPEX/OPEX reporting, aligning with approved budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site teams, procurement, and finance to monitor progress, reconcile costs, and provide reporting for decision-making.
  • Track project performance by comparing planned vs. actual costs, milestones, and procurement; identify variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and validate contractor payment applications, purchase orders, change orders, and contract variations for accurate cost allocation and compliance.

WTS Energy is looking for a Project Controller opportunity with one of the leading heavy civil infrastructure contractors in the U.S., working on a major transportation project in Renton, WA.

Employment Conditions: 2 years of experience in cost control, with exposure to EVM concepts, Proficient in Excel, Experience with JD Edwards required, Experience with Vision CPM required

This role is focused on project controls from an engineering/construction perspective, rather than traditional accounting or finance.

We're looking for someone with experience supporting construction projects, who understands cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and Earned Value Management (EVM) to measure project performance from a cost performance standpoint.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage project cost control, budget monitoring, cash flow forecasting, and CAPEX/OPEX reporting, ensuring alignment with approved budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, procurement, and finance to monitor project progress, reconcile costs, and provide accurate reporting to support management decision-making.
  • Track project performance by analyzing planned versus actual costs, progress, procurement commitments, and key project milestones, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget objectives.
