Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Project Controlling & Digital Solutions Analyst to bridge Finance, data, and technology. You will analyze project economics, support funding, and build Power Apps and dashboards to empower cross‑functional decisions.

The role emphasizes translating business needs into clear digital requirements and hands‑on development with Power Platform, data models, and governance. Portland based, hybrid work.

• Create self-service analytics and dashboards; communicate data limitations clearly.

Inside the Role

The Project Controlling team is looking for a curious, analytical, and self-driven Project Controller & Digital Solutions Analyst (L6) ready to grow at the intersection of Finance, data, and technology.

This approximately 50/50 role is ideal for a candidate who enjoys turning complex data into business insight—and turning business needs into practical digital solutions.

You will support product projects with financial analysis, cost and funding transparency, and cross-functional decision support while also helping build Power Apps, automate workflows, improve reporting and data models, and explore responsible AI use cases.

Working with Finance, Engineering, Purchasing, Cost Engineering, Product Strategy, and IT, you will gain broad business exposure and hands‑on experience shaping both DTNA’s products and the future of Finance. Training, mentoring, and development opportunities will help you grow in both controlling and digital capabilities.

What You Drive at DTNA

Project Controlling responsibilities

• Lead project controller responsibility for selected Lightnings PARs and smaller PAR projects and act as the primary Finance partner for assigned project teams.
• Represent Project Controlling within the New Option Workstream (NOW) and partner with Product Strategy, Pricing, Engineering, Purchasing, Cost Engineering, and Option Controlling to assess profitability and recommend actions.
• Support cost target setting and tracking, funding management, periodic planning, quality-gate preparation, and PSC/Product Committee presentations.
• Maintain project funding actuals and commitments using CBFC and BEAM
• Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, and Cost Engineering to maintain expected part costs in TRACK and related source systems, support supplier-award decisions, and improve cost transparency through each quality gate.
• Central responsibility for project controlling training methods and documentation.

Digitalization responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize, and translate Project Controlling pain points into clear digital product requirements, process maps, user stories, data requirements, and measurable business outcomes.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, document, and continuously improve business-owned Power Apps solutions, including BEAM, TRACK, and future applications, using Power Platform or other digital solutions.
• Build and maintain reliable data connections and transformation workflows across finance and engineering sources such as CBFC, Mainframe/DB2, SharePoint, Dataverse, and related systems in partnership with IT and data owners.
• Develop self-service analytics, dashboards, and decision-support outputs using Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or comparable tools; reconcile source data and clearly communicate data limitations.
• Evaluate, prototype, and help implement responsible AI and Copilot use cases, such as automated cost analysis, mapping actuals and commitments to plans, project summaries, forecasting support, and process guidance.
• Apply appropriate data quality, access, security, documentation, testing, release-management, and governance practices so solutions are trustworthy, supportable, compliant, and scalable.

Knowledge You Should Bring

• A Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a comparable field or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Strong analytical and data skills, with the ability to connect information across systems, identify meaningful insights, and explain them clearly.
• Interest in building expertise across both financial controlling and hands‑on digital solution development in an approximately equal split.
• A practical problem‑solving mindset and the ability to translate business needs into clear requirements, analyses, or digital solutions.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn Power Platform, automation, AI, data modeling, and visualization tools; prior hands‑on experience is a plus, not a requirement.
• Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and ownership skills, with the confidence to work across technical and nontechnical teams.
• Commitment to responsible data and AI practices, continuous learning, Inclusion and Belonging, and DTNA’s current and future products.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

• Hands‑on experience with one or more tools such as Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, Power Query, or comparable platforms.
• Experience building, testing, documenting, or supporting an application, automated workflow, data model, dashboard, or AI‑enabled solution.
• Exposure to budgeting, profitability analysis, cost tracking, forecasting, project management, or process improvement.
• Familiarity with SAP/CBFC, IMS/Mainframe, ProQ, or other enterprise systems.
• An eagerness to help others adopt new tools, share knowledge, and build sustainable digital capabilities across the team.
