Description

As a Project Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of high-impact projects. Your responsibilities include managing project budgets, providing insightful reporting, overseeing cost management, and leading financial forecasting efforts. With your understanding of contract requirements, you'll ensure accurate billing and financial compliance, working closely with project managers, contractors, and the finance team to deliver projects on time and within budget.

In this leadership role, you'll guide and mentor the Project Accountants, overseeing activities like accounting administration, cost reporting, and audits. Your leadership, training, and performance management will be essential in fostering a high-performing team that drives project success. Additionally, you'll contribute to the team's career development, promoting growth and achievement.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure compliance with Builder's Lien Act, holdback requirements, payment processes, contract terms, and project closeouts.
  2. Collaborate with project management to complete monthly reviews and deliver accurate cost reports.
  3. Prepare and present performance summaries and project progress reports to leadership.
  4. Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, ensuring expenditure alignment with goals.
  5. Manage cost and profitability reporting, ensuring key performance metrics are met.
  6. Guide the team in preparing LEMs, invoices, and progress claims, adhering to approval processes and contracts.
  7. Provide timely financial reports to Project Management & Operations teams.
  8. Investigate financial anomalies and inquiries, offering interpretation and resolution.
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum of 6 years of operational accounting experience.
  2. Experience supporting industries such as Construction, Telecom, or Manufacturing.
  3. Post-secondary business degree preferred.
  4. Strong knowledge of contractual, legal, and commercial terms in construction.
  5. Familiarity with construction methods and processes.
  6. Strong financial acumen, including equipment utilization, rates, capital decisions, and profitability analysis.
  7. Proficiency in construction accounting principles and software.
  8. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail; advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  10. Experience with construction administration, contract terms, and JD Edwards is a plus.
Work Conditions:
  • This position offers work-from-home options, with occasional attendance at the office or project site as needed.
