Job summary

Calumet Specialty Products Partners seeks a Project Engineering Construction Manager in California to oversee contractor coordination, safety, and project execution at our facilities. The role reports to the Project Engineering Lead and focuses on streamlining communication and performance with contractors.

You will lead kick-offs, permits, scheduling, environmental compliance, and reporting while working with project engineers and safety personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• 5 years’ experience in an industrial facility is desired.
• Project Management skills and construction experience a plus.
• Working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Project, & Bluebeam Revu.
• Commitment to personnel and process safety, environmental protection, and community relations.
• PSM knowledge is highly desired; API & ASME knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with Calumet procedures.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers during project scope development and planning.
• Conduct contractor evaluations and participate in contractor selection.
• Lead project kick-off and manage permits (digging and lifting).
• Coordinate with safety personnel to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain project schedule and environmental requirements; manage as-built drawings and reporting.

Purpose and Role

The Project Engineering Construction Manager reports directly to the Project Engineering Lead. In this role, The Construction Manager is expected to be a liaison for contractors working for Calumet. By working closely with contractors, the Construction Manager will streamline: communication, expectations, performance, and execution including invoicing checks and timecard management.

Key Objectives / Responsibilities

• Ensure by leadership that all work is performed safely and in accordance with all Calumet procedures.
• Work with Project Engineers during project scope development and planning.
• Conduct contractor evaluations and provide input during contractor selection.
• Manage project ‘Kick-off’.
• Execute digging permits.
• Execute lift permits.
• Work with contractors throughout & rectify any construction issues.
• Work with Safety Personnel to maintain a safe work environment.
• Help to maintain the project schedule.
• Maintain environmental requirements.
• Work with all departments affected by the project construction.
• Maintain as-built drawings.
• Responsible for project reporting.
• Review productivity of each contractor per job.
• Review timesheets and invoicing.

Required Education / Experiences

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• Project Management skills and construction experience a plus.
• 5 years’ experience in a industrial facility is desired.
• A good working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Project, & Bluebeam Revu.
• Candidates must have demonstrated commitment to personnel and process safety, environmental protection, and community relations.
• Detailed working with Process Safety Management (PSM) is highly desired.
• Working knowledge of API & ASME codes a plus.
• Computer proficiency required.
