Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Engineer to support electric transmission, substation, battery storage, and renewable energy projects across the Northeast. The role focuses on civil/site design, stormwater management, permitting, and regulatory compliance, with emphasis on New York Article VIII filings.

The position requires collaboration with environmental, survey, GIS, and engineering teams, plus client communication and budget/schedule oversight within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• 4–8 years progressive civil engineering/utility infrastructure experience.
• New York P.E. license preferred; EIT acceptable with pathway to licensure.
• Experience with NY Article VIII applications and environmental permitting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering plans and exhibits supporting NY Article VIII transmission permitting.
• Serve as Project Civil Engineer for transmission, substation, and utility projects in the Northeast.
• Support planning, design, and delivery of civil components including grading, stormwater, drainage, and road design.
• Prepare and coordinate engineering calculations, reports, drawings, and permit-ready packages with multidisciplinary teams.
• Coordinate with environmental, permitting, survey, GIS, and engineering teams for regulatory filings.
• Assist with project management: budgeting, scheduling, quality reviews, and client communications.
