Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in civil/site design or land development.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in NJ (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Position Overview

Targeted HR Consulting is recruiting a Project Engineer to join a growing Newark-based team focused on land development and municipal infrastructure projects. This full-time, in-office role offers the chance to lead complex civil engineering designs and work across markets including public works, private development, and utilities.

We're seeking a confident professional with at least 8 years of experience, strong technical acumen, and the ability to mentor junior staff while coordinating multidisciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple land development and municipal projects, maintaining schedules and budgets

  • Serve as primary client contact, including attending regular meetings and supporting proposals

  • Prepare technical design drawings, specifications, and reports from schematic through construction

  • Oversee permitting processes with local and state regulatory agencies

  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and drafters on stormwater, utility, and erosion control design

  • Coordinate tasks across engineering disciplines and monitor deliverables for quality and timeliness

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

  • 8+ years of professional experience in civil/site design or land development

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in NJ (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

  • Strong working knowledge of site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion control, and permitting

  • Proficient with engineering design tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D ) and office software (MS Office 365, Adobe, etc.)

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Local candidates only – relocation is not provided

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without work visa sponsorship

Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CME, CFM, or PP

  • Project management or multi-discipline coordination experience

  • Familiarity with Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools

  • Experience using Bluebeam Revu
