Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking a Project Engineer to provide on-site technical leadership for the NIST Boulder Central Utility Plant in Boulder, CO. Responsibilities include coordinating maintenance, QA, and daily logs, and supporting boilers, chillers and related systems.

The role requires a qualified Stationary Engineer with 4+ years of experience, including high-pressure steam or hot-water boiler operation and refrigeration equipment, plus exposure to CMMS like Maximo.

Qualifications

• Qualified Stationary Engineer with experience operating large mechanical systems (boilers, chillers, air compressors, central plant equipment).
• 4+ years verifiable stationary engineering experience, including 3+ years with high-pressure steam or high-temp water boilers and 1+ year operating refrigeration equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical leadership during core hours, Monday to Friday.
• Coordinate quality operations, maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair services.
• Assist Stationary Engineers, HVAC Mechanics, management and subcontractors.
• Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements for reliability, efficiency, safety and maintainability.
• Submit daily logs by 9:00 a.m. in provided format for QA.
• Support steam, chilled water, lab air, water treatment and related systems.
• Review alarms, trends, readings, logs and maintenance records.
• Coordinate planned outages and incident response; restore critical services.
• Participate in weekly meetings with Project Manager and Government reps.
• Perform Stationary Engineer duties when licensed and staffed.
