Job Description

• The student in this position will conduct stewardship duties on Mt. Monadnock during weekend days or other high use days through the year (10hr/wk).
• Duties include in person discussion with hikers on topics such as hiker preparedness, safety, Leave no trace principles, ecology and history of the mountain as well as the fragility of the summit vegetation (8 hr /wk).
• The MERE summit stewardship program is part of a regional network of alpine stewards with a mission to conserve the alpine habitat in northeastern north America.
• Formal programing at visitor center or on the trail or summit could be offered.
• Web site updates, environmental education material creation, writing of technical bulletin and info-graphics as well as grant writing could be other duties of the position (2 hr/wk).

• Has strong desire to learn and share what they have learned about the mountain’s cultural and ecological stories.
• Strong writer and communicator is desired.
