Qualifications

  • Strong MS Office skills and ability to collaborate with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Identify project goals, objectives, and quality expectations through data and research.
  • Develop test fits and space plans to evaluate program fit against Ford Land standards.
  • Provide initial design direction and concept-level design; coordinate with external Architect of Record as needed.
  • Serve as liaison between client and project team; build lasting relationships.
  • Ensure HSSE compliance in all designs and project documents.
  • Assist with programming and schematic/concept design in early design phases.
  • Participate in project meetings with customers, contractors, and PM teams.
  • Coordinate with consultants and external AORs on full-dokumentation projects under senior supervision.
  • Apply standard design principles and escalate complex issues to senior staff.
  • Lead by example and align with CBRE RISE values; support consensus-building.
  • Work within guidelines and policies, exercising sound day-to-day design judgment.

Job description

This role is responsible for developing test fits, space plans, and early design concepts for our client's workplace projects. Working under the guidance of senior project architects, this person moves fluidly between focused, individual test-fit work and collaborative meetings with customers, contractors, and project management teams.

You will provide architectural design services for a variety of small to medium-sized commercial workplace projects. You will work closely with our client's internal design team, business stakeholders, contractors, project management teams, and (where applicable) external Architects of Record - moving fluidly between focused design work and multi-party project meetings.

This role is on-site at our client's campus in Dearborn, MI.

What You'll Do
  • Identify the client's project goals, objectives, and quality expectations through data and research.
  • Develop test fits and space plans to evaluate program fit against Ford Land workplace standards.
  • Provide initial design direction and concept-level design intent for projects; partner with and transition scopes to an external Architect of Record (AOR) as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between the client and project team; build and support lasting relationships.
  • Ensure HSSE compliance in all designs and creations within the project.
  • Assist with early design phases, including programming and schematic/concept design.
  • Participate in project meetings with customers, contractors, and project management teams, representing Ford Land's design goals and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with consultants and external AORs on projects requiring full documentation, under the direction of senior project architects.
  • Apply working knowledge of standard design principles and techniques to typical assignments; escalated complex issues to senior team members.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values; contribute to consensus-building.
  • Work within established guidelines and policies, exercising sound judgment on day-to-day design decisions.

Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. NCARB certification or Architectural license required.

  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
Even Better, You May Have
  • Experience working on interior-focused design projects, with an understanding of human-centered design principles and how they translate into workplace space planning.
  • Experience supporting design programs across multiple sites or a corporate real estate portfolio.
  • Master's degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
  • On-site presence and requirements may change depending on our client's needs.
