Job summary

Gensler in Tampa is seeking a Project Architect to join our dynamic team. You will blend creativity and technical knowledge to guide clients, manage projects, and advance design development from concept to construction documentation.

You will lead coordination with clients, consultants, and contractors, ensure design intent and code compliance, mentor junior staff, and support successful project delivery in a non-remote, on-site office setting.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited program, demonstrated with a rigorous portfolio.
  • Registered/Licensed Architect.
  • 6-10 years of relevant architectural experience, with a strong background designing multiple building typologies of varying scale within retail practice.
  • LEED accreditation and experience preferred.
  • Revit experience required.
  • Outstanding knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures.
  • Proficient and confident in public-speaking, and in moderating large teams of consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical design assignments that include programming client needs, diagramming and modeling conceptual strategies, developing conceptual designs into technical studies, and construction documentation.
  • Engage directly with clients in coordination with client or client stakeholders to assure approvals.
  • Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, agencies, and project stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Ensure design intent, technical quality, and regulatory compliance throughout all project phases.
  • Oversee the bid process, including issuing bid sets, responding to RFIs, and evaluating contractor proposals in collaboration with clients.
  • Manage construction administration activities, including site visits, submittal reviews, RFI responses, and coordination with contractors to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Drive project progress through punch list walkthroughs, final inspections, and closeout documentation to support successful project delivery.
  • Mentor junior staff through project work, technical guidance, and day-to-day support.

In this role, you will have opportunities to develop your existing strengths in design and technical coordination while also beginning to directly manage client relationships.

What You Will Do

Your Qualifications
