Job summary

Job description

Project Architect

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) seeks a Project Architect to manage planning, design, construction, and analysis of facilities for the university. The position assists with in‑house projects, projects by licensed architects, and projects administered by the State Public Works Division (SPWD). This role operates under the direction of the Director, contributing to master planning, capital project proposals, long‑range planning, real estate management, and collaboration with institutional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management of planning, design, construction, and analysis of campus facilities.
  • Coordinate and oversee projects from programming through construction for in‑house and SPWD projects.
  • Participate in short‑ and long‑term master planning, including capital project proposals and long‑range plans.
  • Maintain and develop the management and use of real‑estate holdings, inventory, and detailed records.
  • Communicate with College constituencies, municipal officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, schedules, and procurement documentation.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to project staff and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active architecture license in one state with the ability to obtain a Nevada license within six months.
  • Five (5) years of related professional work experience.
  • Two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in higher education.
  • Five (5) years of experience with public sector projects or State Public Works Division projects.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction, planning, design, programming, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Competency in contracts, purchasing, and bidding requirements.
  • Skill in both manual and computer‑aided drafting.
  • Knowledge of design codes and statutes such as IBC, ADA, ANSI, and FEC.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to make independent decisions in diverse situations.
Salary

Administrative Faculty D – Starting salary $95,588.
