Job summary

Anchor Construction is seeking an experienced architect to lead multiple projects from concept through construction administration. You will collaborate with design teams, prepare construction documents, and mentor staff to ensure design excellence and adherence to codes and schedules.

The ideal candidate has 5–15+ years of experience, an architecture degree, NCARB certification, and strong communication skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture (5-year) or Master of Architecture.
  • NCARB certification and architecture licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of multiple projects, including design development, documents, and construction administration.
  • Direct, coordinate, supervise, and mentor staff members.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Develop conceptual designs, 3D renderings, schematics, and construction documents in compliance with codes.
  • Advise Senior Project Manager on design schedule and budget.
  • Coordinate and lead project-related meetings and client presentations.
  • Observe and evaluate on-site construction conditions for compliance with drawings.
  • Research project-related codes and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Review drawings and responses, addendums, and change directives.
  • Update and maintain project archives, records, drawings, and specifications.

Job description

From our founding, Anchor Construction has been an innovator in project administration and construction management. Our team of professionals serves clients from multiple office locations. From our Northern Indiana office, based in South Bend, our team provides project administration, construction management, civil/site engineering, and plan design services throughout the country.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of multiple projects, including design document creation, specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, constructability, and construction administration
  • Direct, coordinate, supervise, and mentor staff level team members
  • Provide guidance and mentorship and foster collaborative and productive work environment
  • Develop conceptual designs, 3D renderings, schematic designs, design development, and construction documents, in compliance with applicable codes
  • Advise Senior Project Manager on project design schedule and budget
  • Coordinate and lead project-related meetings, including preparing proposals and presentations for client review
  • Coordinate and lead design meetings with internal team members and sub-consultants
  • Observe and evaluate periodically on-site construction conditions to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Research project-related laws, codes, and other jurisdictional requirements
  • Perform in-depth due diligence tasks
  • Review drawings from staff level team members
  • Review request for Information responses, addendums, and construction change directives
  • Provide guidance to subcontractors by interpreting design specifications
  • Update and maintain project archives, records, drawings, and specifications
  • Consistently meet deadlines as required by project work and supervisors
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Seek professional and leadership development training, from both internal and external resources, to foster professional growth and furtherance of team mission
Job Requirements
  • 5 – 15+ years of experience
  • Bachelor of Architecture (5-year degree) or Master of Architecture
    • National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) certification and architecture licensure
    • Maintain professional development hours
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and Microsoft Office
