About the Opportunity
Nordfab is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Project Application Engineer to support the implementation of an Automated Guided Forklift (AGF) project within our fast-paced manufacturing operation in Thomasville, NC. This role will play a key part in the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of robotic automation technologies.
The position begins with 1-2 months of training in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by project deployment activities in Thomasville. This is an approximately 18-month project assignment with the potential for full-time employment based on performance and business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Support onsite deployment, commissioning, troubleshooting, and debugging of Automated Guided Forklifts (AGFs)
- Monitor operational performance and system status of AGF equipment
- Track, document, and communicate project progress to the Project Manager and key stakeholders
- Develop and maintain project schedules and implementation plans
- Coordinate with vendors and technical teams to resolve system and automation issues
- Prepare and maintain project documentation and reports
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and project efficiency
- Provide timely project updates and project management support
- Perform other duties and assignments as needed
Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, specifications, and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing project requirements
- Willingness to travel as needed for training and project support
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical education in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Automation Engineering
- Robotics
- Related technical disciplines
- Experience with CAD and SolidWorks
- Experience in electrical automation or field application engineering (FAE)
- Experience with AGVs, AGFs, automated material handling systems, or forklift maintenance is a plus
This position works primarily within a manufacturing environment where noise levels and production activity may be present. Some administrative and project coordination work will be performed in an office setting.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

- Occasionally stand, walk, reach, climb, or balance
Travel Requirements
- Required training in Atlanta, GA for approximately 1-2 months
- Additional project-related travel may be required as needed Approx up to 6 months
